Lauren Jaquay, DVM is a dedicated veterinary neurology resident at Southeast Veterinary Neurology. With a passion for animal health and specialized care, she is focused on advancing her expertise in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery.

Dr. Jaquay completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in May 2023 from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to obtaining her DVM, she earned a Master of Science in biomedical sciences from Colorado State University in 2018, and a Bachelor of Science in animal science from Cornell University in 2017. These academic achievements laid the foundation for her exceptional skills in veterinary care and scientific research.

Dr. Jaquay’s professional experience includes an extensive range of roles in various veterinary settings. Most recently, she was engaged in a specialty internship in neurology/neurosurgery at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in North County, San Marcos, CA, where she performed physical and neurologic exams, handled emergent neurologic cases, and assisted in neurosurgeries such as hemilaminectomies and ventral slot procedures. Her role also involved interpreting diagnostic images like MRI and CT scans and communicating with clients regarding their pets' care.

Before that, Dr. Jaquay completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Pieper Veterinary in Middletown, CT, where she worked across emergency, primary care, and specialty departments. She gained hands-on experience with a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as primary case responsibility for a broad range of conditions in dogs, cats, and exotic animals.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Jaquay served as a triage technician at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Minnesota, where she honed her skills in clinical assessment and client communication. Her experiences have also spanned roles in necropsy, research, and cattle management, all of which contributed to her deep understanding of veterinary care across multiple species.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Jaquay is a passionate leader in the veterinary community. She served as President of the University of Minnesota's Student Society of Veterinary Surgery, where she organized educational events and cadaver labs. Her leadership roles also extended to the Student American Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Business Management Association, furthering her commitment to both professional development and veterinary education.

Dr. Jaquay’s commitment to the veterinary field is underscored by a strong foundation in research. She has contributed to studies in surgical outcomes for hip replacement surgeries, the development of vaccines, and the evaluation of novel veterinary treatments. She also holds certifications in global FAST ultrasound training and Fear Free veterinary practices, ensuring she provides compassionate and high-quality care to her patients.

With her broad clinical experience, commitment to excellence in neurology, and leadership in the veterinary field, Dr. Jaquay is poised to continue making significant contributions to veterinary neurology and animal care.
