Dr. Alison Lam is a Veterinary Neurology Resident at Southeast Veterinary Neurology, where she brings an international perspective, strong clinical foundation, and a deep enthusiasm for neurological medicine. Originally from Canada, Dr. Lam earned her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVM&S) with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Scotland in 2021.
Following graduation, Dr. Lam worked as a small animal general practitioner before completing a rotating internship at Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital, where she gained hands-on experience in emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, and neurology. Most recently, she completed a neurology specialty internship at Toronto Animal Health Partners, where she developed advanced skills in neurological examinations, MRI and CT interpretation, CSF analysis, and collaborative case management under the guidance of four board-certified neurologists.
Dr. Lam’s training has included selected clinical rotations in anesthesia, oncology, and cardiology, contributing to her well-rounded understanding of patient care across multiple specialties. Known for her calm, compassionate communication style, she values the opportunity to help pets and their families navigate the challenges of neurological disease with clarity and support.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Lam enjoys baking, hiking, playing badminton, and practicing Taekwondo. A lover of travel and exploration, she is excited to begin this new chapter in Florida, with her two beloved cats, Kiki and Albert, always nearby.
Thanks to the amazing team at Southeast Veterinary Neurology for taking care of my Nano. I can say I will spend a worry free Christmas because I know he is in good hands. Cant wait to have him home and thank you again, Dr. Wong and his team are incredible at what they do!
I brought Toby in at 3:30 am, panicked and scared, but we were met with kindness and calmness. Dr. Little and a technician performed a few tests and gave me an honest review on what I was looking at for his diagnosis and cost of treatment. I left Toby there for about a week for in-house rehab, where my worries were eased by twice a day phone call updates and pictures of Toby’s progress. Toby came in not being able to walk on his hind legs and left the facility walking on his own. My Toby was loved on so much and treated with the utmost care. Thank you so much, Southeast Veterinary Neurology!
