Neuro Exams for Pets in
A neurological examination for pets has two basic goals. The first is to determine whether or not the patient’s problem is neurologic in origin. And if the answer is yes, the second goal is to pinpoint exactly where in the nervous system the problem exists. Once the lesion has been localized, a possible cause, diagnostic plan, and therapeutic protocol can be established. To conduct a preliminary neuro exam, you will need:
- Flexor Hammer
- Bright Light
- Nonslip Surface
- Neuro Exam Checklist
Minimal equipment is required, but the most helpful tool to have in your kit is the Neuro Exam Checklist. Download your free checklist right now by clicking here.
Your pet's neuro exam is divided into six sections of evaluation – mentation, gait and posture, cranial nerves, postural reactions, spinal reflexes, and pain perception.
