Dr. Cona Anwer has finally returned to the East Coast after completing her neurology training in California. She is originally from Worcester, Massachusetts and completed her DVM at Tufts University where she earned the Award for Excellence in Feline Medicine. Dr. Anwer went on to complete a one-year medical and surgical rotating internship at the University of Pennsylvania, a one-year neurology/neurosurgery internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego, and a three-year neurology/neurosurgery residency at the University of California, Davis. She is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialty of Neurology.
Although Dr. Anwer loves all aspects of veterinary neurology, she has a special interest in neurosurgery. She has been involved in the Arbeitsgemeinschaft fuer Osteosynthesenfragen (an international orthopedic society based in Switzerland) and was awarded a research grant to develop a new method for treating spinal fractures. In addition to exploring spinal fractures, she has evaluated treatments for giant breed dogs with Wobbler’s disease and explored the MRI characteristics of certain brain tumors. She has lectured at the national ACVIM conference and looks forward to participating in more local and national conferences in the future.
In her spare time, Dr. Anwer enjoys traveling, learning new languages and relaxing with her two cats, Catiusha and Miko.
